Aldgate

Just a twenty minute drive south-east of Adelaide city, the pretty leafy village of Aldgate is the home of historic Stangate House and Aldgate Pump Hotel. It has a handful of shops and cafés, including stylish FRED Eatery showcasing local produce, and Yuki in the Hills for Japanese.

Built in the 1940s and managed by the National Trust, Stangate House overlooks one of the most beautiful camellia gardens in Australia – one of just a handful recognised as an International Camellia Society Garden of Excellence. Stangate House welcomes visitors on its regular open days and is available for functions.

There are some beautiful bed and breakfast properties in and around Aldgate, just a few minutes from Stirling, Bridgewater and Mylor.
