American River

When hunger calls, follow the gravel road to the Blue Oyster farm gate shop — home of Kangaroo Island Oysters. Plucked from the water that morning and shucked while you wait, they don’t come much fresher. Find a sunny spot by the jetty, feel the salt on your fingers and let each oyster speak for the bay it came from. Later, stretch out on the pale sand of Island Beach, follow the boardwalk through Pelican Lagoon’s quiet wetlands or tuck into a warm meal and a soft robe at Oceanview Eco Villas.
