Attraction
The historic 1913 courthouse, converted in 1991 into an art gallery and gift shop, showcases visual and decorative arts, photography and craft by emerging & established artists, in a changing program of exhibitions. The annual Balco Balaklava Art Prize exhibition, held in July/August each year, offers associated prizes up to the value of $3000.00 and attracts over 100 works by more than 70 South Australian artists.

The beautiful exhibition space is free to artists & is a perfect venue for occasional intimate musical performances. The Balaklava Art Group meets here to paint on the 1st Tuesday of each month from 10.00am, and the adjoining gallery shop is well-stocked for browsing, with a variety of mostly hand-crafted gifts, many of them made locally.

The gallery is family-friendly with free admission, is air-conditioned and has wheelchair access, with easy on-street parking and public toilets close by.
