Experience the excitement of open-flame cooking in the Hibachi Steak Masterclass, one of Fleurieu Food and Wine's award-winning culinary experiences. Set at the elegant Bungala House, this hands-on class celebrates premium local beef, native Australian flavours and the theatre of cooking over fire.

You will learn the fundamentals of selecting, preparing and grilling steak to perfection. Guests explore a range of native ingredients such as wattleseed, pepperberry and lemon myrtle, discovering how to create rubs, marinades and finishing flavours that elevate every cut of beef. The class is relaxed, interactive and suitable for beginners through to confident home cooks.

Working in pairs, you will grill on traditional hibachi barbecues, rotating through stations to ensure personalised guidance and plenty of hands-on practice. Along the way you will pick up tips for heat control, seasoning, resting and plating, all taught with our signature warmth and enthusiasm.

After cooking, guests gather for a shared lunch featuring the steaks prepared during the class, served with sides and house made accompaniments. This masterclass offers an unforgettable combination of fire, flavour and fun in one of the Fleurieu's most beautiful heritage settings.
