Explore Sevenhill: home to Clare Valley’s oldest winery

Clare Valley is home to some of the oldest wineries and cellar doors in the state and the oldest lies in Sevenhill. Established in 1851 by Jesuits priests to produce sacramental wine, Sevenhill Cellars now creates premium plonk for all to enjoy. Visit the cellar door, taste a drop or two and tour the underground cellars and crypt. Pikes Wines is another must-visit in Sevenhill. Once awarded the best Australian Riesling, they also brew craft beer on site if you need a break from the vinos. Just down the road, you’ll find more local brews at Clare Valley Brewing Co. When you’re stomach calls, head for Skillogalee for a lingering long lunch; the cellar door and restaurant are set in an historic cottage surrounded by beautiful gardens. Thirst quenched and hunger satisfied, escape to your own private retreat nestled in nature at Trestrail Cottage.
