Umoona Opal Mine and Museum offers large scale underground bunkhouse accommodation for tour companies and school groups. Their bunkhouses can individually contain up to 102 beds. Each bunkhouse includes a kitchenette with sink, microwave and fridge, and shared bathroom facilities.

Coach parking and power for camp kitchens is available.

They offer a private guided tour for your group through their underground venue. You begin with a 20-minute award-winning documentary designed by them on Coober Pedy’s history. This is followed by a guided tour through an old and modern underground home. Finally, you are led down into the original opal mine displaying a genuine seam of opal.

After the tour, there is plenty of time to browse our free museum and fossil displays as well as one of the largest opal displays in Coober Pedy showcasing all the different types of Australian opal, ranging from souvenirs to fine jewelry, specimens, and unset cut stones.

Pricing and touring options for tour groups/companies are available on request via email with select multilingual options available.

All of their jewellery and unset cut stones come with an international certificate of authenticity and a 12 month warranty.
